Dead Wax / Run-Out

The ungrooved area between the last track and the label.

The dead wax (run-out groove) is the smooth band where the music ends and the arm lifts or repeats. Pressings often carry etched matrix marks here that identify a specific cut. We draw generic groove art — never real matrix codes, which identify a pressing.
