Phono Stage
The box that applies RIAA EQ and gain to a cartridge.
A phono stage (or phono preamp) does two jobs: it boosts the cartridge’s tiny signal to line level, and it applies the inverse RIAA curve to undo the equalization used when the record was cut. Without one, a turntable into a line input sounds thin and quiet.
