Slipmat / Mat
The mat between platter and record.
The mat cushions the record and couples (or decouples) it from the platter. Felt is light and DJ-friendly; cork and rubber damp resonance; acrylic aims for tight coupling. Swapping mats is a cheap, reversible tweak to tone and static behavior.
